Treehouse Hangout

Treehouse Hangout is three stories of dark siding standing in a gravel clearing, and tall pines crowd in on every side. It has two bedrooms and two and a half baths. The layout is stacked: living space and a big deck at ground level, a king suite above that, and a bunk room with a pool table at the top.

You come in past a wagon-wheel bench on the front porch. The main floor is one open room with a brown leather sofa, a stone fireplace with a TV over the mantel, and a granite island with four stools. Big windows look straight into the trees. Dark slate tile runs behind the range, and the window beside it is full of trees. There is a Keurig and a basket of pods on the counter, a half bath on this floor, and a stacked washer and dryer behind a wooden door.

Most of the daylight hours go to the ground-floor deck. A hot tub sits at one end and a gas grill at the other, with a long plank table and benches in between, all under string lights. More lights run out across the yard toward a fire pit ringed with Adirondack chairs, and the horseshoe pits sit nearby.

The second floor is the king suite. A ceiling fan turns over the bed, a TV hangs on the wall, and a row of tall windows brings the forest into the room. A freestanding soaker tub sits by the window a few steps from the bed, and the bathroom has an open walk-in shower with a pebble floor.

Climb to the third floor and the whole level is one room. A full-size pool table sits under blue pendant lights, two bunk beds line the walls, each with a twin on top and a queen below, and there is a mini fridge, a TV and a full bath. A second deck opens off it with a wicker sofa, orange cushions, a TV and a set of cornhole boards. From up there you are looking out across the treetops instead of up at them.

Treehouse Hangout is in the Broken Bow hills, a drive from Broken Bow Lake and Beavers Bend State Park.
