Starlit Streams

A creek runs over rocks at the edge of the woods behind Starlit Streams, and from the covered deck you can watch it. The cabin is a lodge-style place with four bedrooms and four baths, and beds for sixteen. Three bedrooms are on the main floor, each with its own bathroom, and a bunk loft takes the whole upstairs.

The great room has a stone fireplace that runs to the ceiling, a green diagonal-paneled wall beside it, a pine plank ceiling and sliding glass doors out to the deck. The kitchen has forest-green cabinets, a wood-sided island and a wood range hood over a gas range, with patterned tile behind the open shelves. Leather stools line the island, which seats five. A long wood table seats eight in the next room, under a framed forest triptych.

One king room has its own fireplace set in a gray tile wall under the TV, with sliding doors to the deck, and its bathroom has a freestanding tub under two windows. Another king room has a black iron bed against a dark green board-and-batten wall. The third bedroom has a queen bed and a brown paneled accent wall. All three have a wall TV.

Upstairs, an open staircase with a wood rail leads to the bunk loft. It has three twin-over-twin bunks and two full beds in matching plaid bedding, a bathroom of its own and a TV. That loft is most of the reason the cabin gets to sixteen. A basket of board games and a stacked washer and dryer round out the house.

The game room has a green-felt pool table and a Pac-Man cabinet under a wall TV.

The covered deck is the length of the house. It has a hot tub, a stone fireplace with a TV on the wall at one end, a dining table, a gas grill, a lounge area and a giant Connect 4. Past the rail, there is a hammock strung between trees, a fire pit with bright blue Adirondack chairs, and a kids’ playset with a green slide and a little cedar tower. The fireplaces run from October through April.

Dogs are allowed. The cabin sits in a cul-de-sac near Broken Bow, Oklahoma, with Beavers Bend and the lake a drive away.
