Description

You will find The Iron Spike Lodge in Broken Bow, and it sleeps up to 20. The sleeping setup is what makes it work for a big group: four king bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, plus a loft of bunk-style beds up a spiral staircase. Three of the bedrooms have a door straight to the outside, so folks who turn in at different hours are not tromping through the middle of the house.

The main living room has a stone fireplace with a TV over the mantel, a couple of blue armchairs and big windows full of pine trees. The fireplace is seasonal, October through May 15. In the kitchen you get stainless appliances, wood cabinets and a dark island that looks right into the living room, and a long wooden dining table sits nearby for sit-down meals.

The game room is where the kids and teens will end up. There is a red-felt pool table, arcade machines, a bar area and a mini fridge, and the spiral staircase up to the loft rises right beside the pool table. The loft has an open railing over the room below.

Outside, there is a private pool with loungers sitting in the shallow end, a hot tub, and a wood deck with chairs and umbrellas that is strung with lights. You can have the pool heated if you ask ahead of your stay. The covered patio has an outdoor TV, a stone fireplace, a dining table, a ping pong table and a gas grill, and there is an outdoor ice machine. Down in the yard you will find a fire pit, cornhole, a giant Connect Four, wooden swing benches for adults, and a wooden playset with a slide, swings and a climbing wall for the kids.

A few practical things. The lodge has direct access to an ATV trail, and the circular drive has room for trailers, boats and extra vehicles. There is an outlet for charging an electric vehicle, but you need to bring your own cord and adapter. Two washers and two dryers will keep up with a full house, and there is a coffee station, a crock pot and fiber internet with free Wi-Fi. Pets are not allowed.

Most folks come to this corner of Oklahoma for Broken Bow Lake and the Beavers Bend State Park trails, and the sky over the yard gets dark enough after sunset for stargazing.
